Non-Formal Education Program

In January 1997, the NFPE Model was started as a three-year Program for Children between the ages of 8 and 12, who had never enrolled in any school or who had dropped out during class-1 from the formal Schools. IRDO at first conducted Non-formal Education Program at Kapasia PS under Gazipur District. IRDO open 25 NFE schools at first phase in the Program area. At first local leaders, patrons of the Organization and the Members of IRDO funded in this program. The program is totally implementing in cost effective way. Afterward government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh funded in this Program. Since July 2003 IRDO has been implementing the Project of Directorate of Non-formal Education (DNFE) under Ministry of Primary and Mass Education named ‘post Literacy & Continuing Education for Human Development Project-1’ (Phase-2, 3, 4) in Gazipur Sadar Upazila.The Schools running by the own fund of IRDO have no fees, all learning materials for the students are provided by IRDO. Health, Population, Nutrition and Sanitation Program

IRDO has been implementing Improvement Health and Population for the Less Advantage (IHPLA) program since 2001 by the financial and technical as well as capacity building support of BPHC, (a component of DFID’s support of HPSP). This program is covering a total of 1600 Eligible Couple of 31 villages under Monohardi and Shibpur Upazila of Narsingdi district. It is implemented by a team of trained staff i.e. 5 Family Health Visitors (FHVs), 2 ESP Supervisors, 1 Paramedics 01 Program Officer and 01 Assist. Program Officer and one Program Coordinator. The services are being provided through door to door, static and static and satellite clinics. Contraceptives distribution, Hormone Injection inject, provide education on health, family planning, nutrition, women empowerment, sanitation, hygiene and others behaviour change communications issues. Skill Development Training Program

The goals of the training program are the attitude (mind set) and develop commitment of development actors an d facilitators to enable effectively. IRDO has established a training centre at Monohardi Pauroshova/ Upazila for organizing the training, workshop, seminar, conference, meeting and research activities. Training has been a major thrust of IRDO from beginning. IRDO believes that training plays a vital role in enhancing knowledge and skill levels and changing the behavioral pattern of development actors for effective implementation of programs with many years of experience in the field of sustainable development. IRDO effectively guides its staff members and beneficiaries where maximum are women as well as other NGOs by offering participatory training courses. Till to date IRDO has provided training to 10910 beneficiaries including various projects. To ensure the success of the training program, participants are encouraged constantly to grow consciousness and responsibilities about their learning experiences themselves which results in sustainability of the learning process even after the completion of the training.

Agricultural Research and Development Program

IRDO in a partnership of Palli Dustha Mohila Samity (PDMS) has been implementing the agriculture extension project entitled “New and Modern Technology Transfer and year Round Homestead Vegetable Gardening” at Baria and Mirzapur UP in Gazipur sadar upazilla. Partnership Initiative Fund (DPIF) in 2006 assisted by Ministry of Agriculture. The objective of the project is to improve health status ensuring sustainable vegetable gardening development activities/production. 250 trained women beneficiaries are involved in implementing this project

Community Based Library Program

IRDO has been working to combat trafficking of women and children in Kushtia, Meherpur and Chaudanga district, covering 24 high-risk villages where there are nine trafficking routs. IRDO is working on Motivation, Awareness raising, Legal Aid Training, Drama staging, Meeting/ Campaign, Case, Shalish, Networking, lobbying, including disseminate of information among the target people. IRDO has also covered the largest group families under its ongoing rehabilitate and alleviate poverty from the targeted community people

Basic Literacy Program

The major portions of the rural women are illiterate. The lack of literacy amongst the majority of the population especially the rural poor women are a impediment to the progress of human development in Bangladesh. Considering the fact, in order to make literate the illiterate women, IRDO has given outmost importance on life-oriented adult literacy education for its target group women. IRDO has been implemented. The Adult Literacy Program by the funding support of BILANCE, Netherlands. It has been started from 1993 which operates 40 Adult Literacy and Functional education centers aiming at making 800 illiterate women learners.

Eradication of Hazardous Child Labor

Under Ministry of Labour and Employment (MOLE) IRDO completed all the three phases of EHCLB, where a total of 1050 Child Labour Engaged in Hazardous work got training on different IGS and removed from their hazardous occupation. They were given Basic literacy for 18 months and IGAs for 6 (six) months

Women Empowerment through IGA Program

IRDO believes that development is meaningless unless the development of women. So IRDO has given emphasis to ensure women participation in main stream of the development with a view to empowerment of women.

Micro Credit Program/SME

IRDO registered with Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) With the very beginning of IRDO, it has introduced Micro credit Program, as it is the Proven means of poverty alleviation. In January 1997 IRDO started Micro Credit Program with its own revolving loan fund, contributed by the members of Executive Committee and General committee. Afterward Different Banks, DANIDA, CARE, JSKP, US Aid was contributed in this Program. A total of 25,300 loonies were provided Micro Credit facility with an amount Of Taka 212 crore by January 31, 2019. Total outstanding amount is Tk 333,402,000.00 saving amounts of this program is Tk 86,245,880.00

Gender Justice and Legal Aid Program

IRDO started to work on Gender Justice since 1999. The goal of this project will help both women and men understand their roles in the term of gender equity within the project areas. A well trained staff of IRDO is involved in the project and has become able to make the women and men in rural areas understand and aware of their roles in the matter of gender equity through Legal Aid Program. The program has been contributing significantly in the community to improve in respect of illegal divorce, women torturing, oppression, dowry, polygamy, women and children rights and privileges. IRDO has become able to solve 300 social problems through “Grammo SALISH” and 50 problems through “cases for the empowerment of women in the society. Mentionable here that IRDO is an active member of “MANB ADHIKER BASTABAYON SANGSTHA” in Bangladesh. IRDO arranges training, workshop, seminar, meeting several times in this regards
